Why all these? because the word "DOM" has been used to mean something in IT, which takes more notice than the origin of the word "DOM".

    What is DOM in IT?

    1. The Document Object Model (DOM) is an application programming interface (API) for
valid HTML and well-formed XML documents. It defines the logical structure of documents

and the way a document is accessed and manipulated.

    2. Document Object Model, the specification for how objects in a Web page (text, images, headers, links, etc.)

are represented. The DOM defines what attributes are associated with each object, and how the objects and attributes
can be manipulated. Dynamic HTML (DHTML) relies on the DOM to dynamically change the appearance of Web pages after they have been downloaded to a user's browser.

    3. As authors of HTML you are writing things that will be seen by people via a browser
Therefore, you are writing for the browser. The browser builds an understanding of your code when it reads it,
that understanding is called the DOM and it exists inside the browser.

    4. HTML code arrives
Browser interprets HTML and builds a DOM for the page
Browser allows javascript to alter the DOM
Browser shows the current state of the DOM, always the DOM.

Finally, a suffix forming nouns which refer to domain ( kingdom),
collection of persons ( officialdom), rank or
station ( earldom), or general condition ( freedom).
